Dear Kinja,

Why the hell can you delete comments on most social network sites including Facebook, but not here on Kinja.

Just to be clear, you are referring to your own comments, and not those of others correct?

We have the ability to both dismiss others' comments and flag them if they are harassing, racist, or spam.

You can, on your own posts. To the right side of the comment there is a disappearing drop-down arrow. Hover over it and it appears. Click and then select dismiss.

Because Kinja is about data mining.

Nothing is deleted from here; the terms of service are frightening but nobody ever reads them.

If we don't like it, we shouldn't comment.

We asked for an edit button, they gave us an edit button (after a few years). Now we want to delete? Are we never satisfied?

(though, sometimes delete would be handy, you could always ask for it to be dismissed)
